Dr. Anirut Suesingh, Assistant Director of Ubon Ratchathani University Science Park Project, revealed that the production of innovative UBU-UVC: Smart Germicidal Irradiation Machine, in cooperation with the Science Park Project, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Administration, Entrepreneurs and private sector companies, in order to support the operation of medical personnel, is a technology or device that has a high potential to effectively remove or kill bacteria, including Covid-19 virus.

The team of developers, who are specialists in the field, jointly planned the project, such as Prof. Dr. Rapeepan Petakaso, a project consultant, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nantawat Virayut, Ajarn Chakrit Pho Ngam, and Dr. Anirut Suebsingh, overseeing the design, structure design of the machine, calculating the number and amount of radiation, writing and planning the production process of the virus killer with UVC radiation, operating control systems, and equipment procurement, and Mr. Apisit Siribul and Mr. Thanawat, smart people, alumni of the Faculty of Engineering, Ubon University.Mr. Teerarat Hiranyuan, a student of the Department of Chemical Engineering, supervised the design and construction of the operation control circuit, the preparation of Software and Application to control the operation of the machine with a Smartphone. In addition, with the cooperation of the private sector, RST Robotics, a science park incubator, helped develop the production process, structure and hardware components of the machine. and Porncharoen Woodship Limited Partnership, the sponsor of the UVC light intensity instrument

The system consists of a total of 320 watts UVC lamp with Internet of Things control via Smartphone. You can control the power on and off and set the remote operation time by connecting via Bluetooth.

This machine uses UVC lamps that can generate ultraviolet radiation with a wavelength of 253.7 nm, which is the light range. UVC is highly effective in eliminating small organisms or pathogens. This wavelength can destroy the DNA and RNA structures of small organisms such as viruses, bacteria, fungi and various pathogens. Stop breeding efficiency and kill these carriers. It can work over an area of 14 - 25 square meters. The amount of time it takes to disinfect depends on the distance from the surface of the lamp. The outer UVC to the surface where the light hits, according to calculations, takes 15-30 minutes to sterilize within a radius of 2-3 meters.

It is another success of the Ubon Ratchathani University development team in integrating several areas of cooperation to create the first prototype UBU-UVC: Smart Germicidal Irradiation Machine, and to donate it to hospitals to help reduce the risk of infection or Covid-19 virus to hospital medical personnel and service users. The goal is to produce 6 units to be given to government hospitals in Ubon Ratchathani province, such as Warin Chamrab Hospital.Sapphasitprasong Hospital, 50th Anniversary Hospital, Mahawatcharalongkorn Hospital, and Ubon Ratchathani City Hall, among others, are ready to expand into areas throughout Isaan.
