The two tapirs were handed over from the Chonburi Open Zoo on 26 September 2025. After arriving at the Ubon Ratchathani Zoo, the two tapirs had regular veterinarians and nurturers, and the two tapirs adapted to get used to the new place and experimented with the couple to be able to live together, while opening up the cuteness to tourists.

Tapir is considered an ancient animal with bloodlines close to horses and rhinos. Tapir is considered one of Thailand's 19 wildlife reserves under the Wildlife Preservation and Protection Act B.E. 2562 (2019). In Thailand, tapir species of Malayu (Tapirus indicus) are endemic to Southeast Asia, Thailand, Malaysia and Sumatra.
