6 July 2025 at 15.30 hrs. According to tourists, the information was posted on social media at Ubon Ratchathani. It was said that "Nam Pa, the victims of the dam crossing to Hong Wana Khong Chiam are stuck. Now please be safe, the water is low." That was said that Major Adisak Noisuwan, Governor of Ubon Ratchathani Province, was informed of the information and directed to the Mekong Chiam Sheriff to provide urgent assistance.
Most recently, Khong Chiam Sheriff Anon Nunchu conducted a data review by coordinating the head of Pha Tae National Park and Mr. Thongchan Sangthongtas, the head of Ban Bahai Village, Village No. 7, Huay Yang Sub-district, and instructed the deputy district officer, security department, and the members of H.I.S. Khong Chiam 11, a total of 8 persons with 10 life jackets, to enter the area for joint inspection and to provide assistance. The summary is as follows:
1. Hong Wanna is about 15 meters wide, located in Ban Ba Hai area, Village No. 7, Huay Yang sub-district, at the junction with Pha Taem National Park as a picnic spot for water play or overnight camping. The stream is quite long, but has not yet been officially opened as a conservation attraction. Most tourists cross to camp during the winter. Permission must be made to do occasional activities with Huay Yang Sub-district Administrative Organization.
2. Upon inspection at the time of arrival, 8 tourist cars were found, including 7 pickup trucks and 1 sedan. 20-30 tourists were from Nahia District and Ban Nassuan Sub-district, Dej-Udom District, who crossed to the tent on the evening of 5 July 2025. At the time of the incident, it was unknown how long it would take for the water to recede and did not notify the villagers for any assistance.
3. Inquire that on the morning of July 6, 2025, heavy rain caused the water level to rise from about 30 centimeters, which prevented the tourist car, a red Ford sedan, from crossing due to the grounded suspension at the entrance to Hongwana.
4. Helping: The master and assistant housekeeper took the plow to adjust the soil down so that the sedan can cross the shore at around 4 pm. All cars can pass through the creek and have a safe journey back.
5. The support mission ended at 17.00 hrs.
Prevention and troubleshooting in the above cases
1. Khong Chiam District has ordered the master of Ba Hai Village, Village No. 7 and Huai Yang Subdistrict Administrative Organization to post a public notice and alert the area on the route to Hong Wana.
2. It is strictly forbidden for tourists to cross the creek during the rainy season in order not to damage their own lives and property until the situation is normal and safe.
